If you follow my Instagram (@homewithLP) then you've seen the first DIY project I posted; these PLAY letters in our playroom. Although the rest of the room isn't finished, I started on this project because it was too fun not to! Below you will find tips & tricks to bring these fun letters into your home!
Supply List:
wooden "PLAY" letters
craft paint
glue gun
glue sticks
1 inch felt balls*
*I chose to do multicolored letters, but you can do any pattern: solid, ombre, only three colors, whatever fits your space best :) You could also put these in your kids room and spell their name! Make sure you buy all the felt balls at the same time because the color lots vary if shipped separately.
Step #1: Paint the letters
I didn't want any of the wood to be seen on the sides of the letters while they were hanging, so I decided to paint the perimeter of the letters. I chose black because I wanted them to pop on the white walls. You really don't have to do this step; but if you do, you can use any color paint.
Step #2: Ball Prep
Insert all the jokes here. Ok, now back to crafting :)
The balls came individually packaged by color, so I opened every package and emptied them in a huge bowl and mixed them all up. I didn't use every color; I made sure to set aside the colors that weren't my favorite so that I could use them for a future craft project. #craftersneverwaste
Once your paint is dry and your glue gun is hot, its time to stick the balls on. I started gluing each ball on the outside edge of the letter and then filling them in tightly in the middle. It was easiest to stagger them and not overthink it. I tried to vary the colors as much as possible just so that I didn't have a lot of the same color in one area.
Step #3: Time to hang
The letters are predrilled with holes for hanging. Enjoy!
